Gerald Ford came into the presidency at a time of crisis. He took over after Nixon resigned due to the Watergate Scandal, troops were still coming home from Vietnam, and the Cold War was still raging.
Rating
Gerald Ford did what he thought he should do. He calmed down the arms race between the United States and the Soviet Union a bit. The pardon of Nixon and the loss of lives for the Mayaguez did not end up as well though. Ford had the right ideas when doing those two things but there was really more bad to these actions than good.
